You are a leader, project manager, coach, consultant who is trying to influence change. Join me and others to both experience AND learn a light-weight way to create safety, trust, authenticity at work that will aid in such change. We will be doing some intense reflection, sharing of our personal journeys. By the end of the day, we'll choose some concrete and congruent steps to advance our effectiveness at work and form a support network to stay in touch after the event.
Temenos is the framework for change agents and leaders that underpins this workshop. It is based on the work and practice of Temenos+Agility founder, Siraj Sirajuddin. In Greek mythology, Temenos is the Greek Island where the gods would go to replenish themselves before returning to the mainland. In this context it is considered a 'space' or 'container' for learning and exchange. In organizations aspiring towards agility, we recognize that communication, transparency, and trust is essential. Temenos will help with change agents, leaders and team members with self awareness, listening and personal change.

Check In and Welcome
Host Welcome and Introductions. Each participant will have a chance to check in and share a bit about why they chose to come.
We'll cover the theory, history and framework Temenos in the context of leadership.
Temenos Influence Maps
Containers are safe spaces for listening, sharing and growing. Each person reflects, visualizes and shares the key influences that got them to where they are in their life’s work or career.
What has made me successful? Who has helped me form my views about work and work/life balance? What has inspired me or hindered me in my quest to be where I am now? What path did I take not take to get where I am now?
Each is invited to draw out the symbols and landscape of this personal/professional journey after which in a group we will listen compassionately—without evaluation or judgement - to each person’s story Attendees will be lightly asking Clean Language Questions - which will be taught prior to the sharing portion of the workshop.
Lunch - 1 hour (noon - 1 p.m.)
To create an acknowledgement of change in ourselves, we must remember, share and honor our past failures and successes.
In this section, we will similarly spend time in personal reflection, creation, and sharing our answers to these questions:
In the past, considering all teams, organizations or systems I have been part of, how have those entities failed me? And how have I failed them?
When we are able to clear the air of all the ways that we aren’t able to show up fully in service to the organization, and our own needs, we can move to an orientation outcome, less impeded by our own ’negative stories’.
Congruent Leadership helps us to be bolder in addressing problems and solutions at work. To become better transformational leaders, we must overcome our own internal barriers to change.
In this segment we will experience what it might be like to take some of our own restrictive ‘rules’ for behavior at work to transform them into things we can actually do. We'll learn about behavior congruency and how as leaders, we can't lead without this. With role plays, and examples, we will gain a sense of closure on the work done in the Clean Slate exercise, as well as a sense of how this will all be useful back at work.
Congruent Communication was taught by the late Virginia Satir, a renowned family therapist and adapted and taught for decades by the grandfather of agile and prolific author, Gerald Weinberg. I am combining the leadership and transformational aspects of Temenos with a dose of Congruent Communication to bring the best of these models to people who are eager to learn and expand their personal impact at work.
Closing the Temenos Container
At the end of the day, we'll honor the day's work by sharing feedback, appreciation, learning, and aspirations. Leaving the Temenos container and returning to our regular lives is the next step. The world out there is as you left it in the morning, and yet you may find you have changed! We'll briefly talk about how you'll get the support from and give the support to others who didn’t make this journey with you.
